The Worcester Youth Nian Dancers, or WYND for short, was created back in 2009 as a way to channel our youths abundant energy into something that is cultural, healthy and positive. Starting from only Youtube videos and a strong willpower, the team has grown to be one of the most recognized teams in the Greater Worcester and Boston area.
Currently, we are training our newest members so that we can all perform as one group of lions as soon as possible. We also are beginning to study the Dragon dance to add to our physical activities. Due to the exponential increase in publicity for our lion dance team, we are practicing new moves and routines to improve our performances and gain new skills by the end of 2017.
As part of a 501-c3 non-profit organization, WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR EACH PERFORMANCE. We do, however, accept donations that will go towards equipment maintenance, food and transportation costs. We are in the process of raising money to buy a new bus for not only WYND, but all of Youth Effect as well as the WRAP program's use.
